History
1994 J.A Shipping AB was founded in Västerås by Jerker Ahlsén, with a focus on ship agency services and door-to-door transports of local industries’ cargo. Jerker early realized that there was an opportunity and challenge in meeting actors around Mälardalen’s need of transports, and made sure to get to know both the need of logistic solutions as well as the actual products being shipped. Through personal contact with their clients and customers in combination with high engagement for their organizations, unique and personalized solutions could be made, and cargo be transported across the globe.
2012 the company was renamed Thor Shipping & Transport, but continued down the same road Jerker had started 18 years earlier. The familiar atmosphere which had been present since the beginning of the company was still there, and when the organization kept growing, this was what defined the company’s daily work.
2014 Thor Shipping founded its first subsidiary and shipping company, SUN Line. With three vessels in operation we had created an opportunity to ship cargo on our own vessels between Västerås, Sweden, and Hull, England. This also lead to us starting a second subsidiary – TST UK Ltd. -, a stevedoring and forwarding company located in Hull. The amount of transports increased, and the company kept growing.
2017 Thor Shipping acquires Navilog Transport AB.
2018 Accent Equity will enter as a new growth partner and Thor Shipping acquires Askala Shipping.
2020 Thor Shipping acquires Svecon Freight AB, Svecon Freight AB was founded in May 1990 by Bertil Berglind, together with 2 other companies, Conmel Group AB (Gothenburg) and Scandinavian Sealift AB (Örebro). The company started with the intention of introducing the container as a transport alternative to fractions along northern Sweden. In 2000, Svecon becomes the sole owner of Svecon Freight AB and develops the company in the areas of forwarding, shipping agency and investing in its own warehouses in the port of Gävle to become a complete service provider.
In 2013, Daniel Berglind take over the business.
2022 Thor Shipping & Transport and Svecon Freight changes name to Thor Svecon Group AB (TSG).
2023 TSG Forwarding AB aquires J&S Transport & Spedition AB in Västerås.
Today, the organization with subsidiaries has over 70 employees and continues to grow. More subsidiaries have been added and the business is steadily increasing in size. TSG can now offer global logistics solutions to its customers, but still the same family spirit and feeling that Bertil Berglind implented in 1990 an Jerker Ahlsén in 1994.
